Position Objective

The Japanese language teacher is tasked with delivering the Cambridge curriculum to students in the primary & secondary divisions. The teacher is expected to plan and execute lessons in alignment with the Cambridge International Curriculum and the Cambridge Learner Attributes — developing students who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged learners. The teacher is also tasked with establishing a safe, productive, and learner-centred learning environment.

Japanese language teachers will deliver lessons that improve students’ understanding of the language and culture of Japan through an international context.

Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver well-structured, student-centered lessons that meet Cambridge curriculum.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Incorporate inquiry-based, project-based, or experiential learning where appropriate.
  • Maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and engagement.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners

Assessment and Reporting

  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments in line with school guidelines.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth.
  • Prepare accurate report cards and attend parent-teacher conferences.

Classroom Management

  • Establish clear expectations for behavior and learning.
  • Implement the school’s behavior and safeguarding policies consistently. Support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of all students.
  • Foster an inclusive, safe, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to build strong school–home partnerships.

Professional Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with teaching teams to plan units, improve practice, and ensure curriculum continuity.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and training workshops.
  • Support co-curricular and extracurricular activities that enrich student development.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant subject field.
  • Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., M.Ed., or equivalent)
  • Minimum [2–3] years of full-time teaching experience.
  • Strong command of English (spoken and written).

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching in an international or Cambridge school setting.
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge curriculum.
  • Competence in educational technology and digital learning tools. Experience with student-centered, inquiry-based pedagogy.
